High Maintenance Children
Household Engineering

Make sure everything has a "home". Streamline your house with no clutter. Get your child familiar with the idea that everything has a place. For example: socks go in the sock drawer, cars go in the car box. Set the timer for how long it will take to get everything "back home." Have the child beat the timer.

Chore Cards

List one chore and time to be competed on a card, put the card on your child's bed each morning.

Examples:

  1. Sweep all carpeted areas by five o' clock.
  2. Unload the dishwasher.
  3. Change the kitty litter.
  4. Fold the clothes in the dryer.

When the child has misbehaved, have "projects" for the child to do.

Examples:

  1. Wash the car.
  2. Polish the silver.
  3. Wax the furniture.
